Gene, i also saw the show with Kathy Freston and was thrilled she was able to speak of "consious eating" to Oprah's huge and attentive audience. Especially, since that show was on the tail of the wonderful webcast series A New Earth which is all about becoming conscious. I have long believed that Oprah should do a show on factory farming (she just did one on Puppy Mills) and in fact was going to suggest it to her producers. She has a section on her website that asks for new show ideas and after picking up your book the other day i knew it was time to send them that email. And so i did. I suggested an expose/educational presentation on the subject and mentioned your wonderful book and tireless work. Of course, i'm only one of a million suggestions but at least i put the word out. And hopefully, they will take the challenge! And unbelievably, in my email i referenced the very same K. Freston show and comments that you have here! And that was before i even knew you had a blog or had even read this! Perhaps, this is a good sign. peace, susan

Hi Gene - this is a second attempt at a comment on this blog entry! I also saw the Kathy Freston show a few weeks ago and was thrilled that she was able to address the issue of "consious eating" to Oprah's huge and attentive audience. Especially, since it was on the heels of the A New Earth class on achieving consciousness in daily life. THose of us inflicting cruelty or turning a blind eye are certainly not "awake". So, after i saw the show ( and read A New Earth) i happened to see your book at the library. I am now reading it and i am amazed at your fearless dedication and strength. There have been many times i had to take a breath and put the book down temporarily after reading about one horror or another. I simply can't believe how desensitized we humans (some) are. Factory farming should simply and unequivocably be abolished. Period. Lastly, there is a synchronicity to all this - i have thought for some time now, that Oprah should do a show on factory farming - she just did one on puppy mills and has a heart for animals. On her website she has a section for show suggestions. So after beginning your book i knew it was time to send that suggestion in, and i did. Mentioning the idea, you and your book as a feature AND the show with Kathy Freston - this was all before i read your blog, so imagine my delight when i saw that you had mentioned it. Perhaps they will listen. ? Thank you for all you do. Susan
