Tom Vilsack, recently appointed to serve as U.S. Department of
Agriculture Secretary, set a very important and positive example on the
bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln's birthday. He broke pavement to
establish "The People's Garden" on the premises of the USDA. in
Washington, DC. And he announced the goal of creating community gardens
at every USDA facility around the world. This exciting development
sends a powerful message.
Please express your appreciation to Secretary Tom Vilsack, and urge him to do everything he can to actively promote community gardening across the U.S.
You can read the USDA.'s press release on the matter
